A NATURAL PERSON. THE LOSS OF JUST BEING A NATURAL PERSON

THE LOSS OF JUST BEING A NATURAL PERSON

THE LOSS OF JUST BEING A NATURAL PERSON

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. THE LOSS OF JUST BEING A NATURAL PERSON

DEFINITION

The Greek word for “natural,” as used in the passage above, is “psuchikos” -soulish. Thus the term “natural man” simply refers to someone who lives from the soul or intellectual or rational part of his mind.

WHO IS THE NATURAL MAN

THE LOSS OF JUST BEING A NATURAL PERSON

The natural man is not necessarily an unsaved person. A person can be saved, be born again, and yet be natural in the way he conditions his mind and spirit to think and function. Such a person is infantile in his spiritual growth; he is a babe, and unskillful in the words of righteousness and holiness.

The natural man, though born again, is not acquainted with the deep things of God, for he hasn’t developed the spiritual senses required to process those things. His “head and mind” is more developed than his spirit. He is sense-ruled -he thinks and lives by facts, empirical evidences, even as orchestrated by the cultures he is in.

THE WAY OF NATURAL MAN

THE LOSS OF JUST BEING A NATURAL PERSON

He maintains worldly view rather than the spiritual review or Godly way of doing things. That is he follows things the way of worldly knowledge acquired in school or learning and not by the wisdom of God.NATURAL MAN

PERSONAL VIEW OF LIFE

Put differently, the natural man is resourced and shaped by his environment. He makes decisions based on his personal view of life. Such a person may even love God, but he’s not yet mature to discern, dissect, appropriate, and execute eternal principles.

He lives only in time, and operates by the wisdom of this world that comes to nothing. He doesn’t know how to step into the TIMELESS, into the ETERNAL, and access the ancient wisdom God ordained for the glory of the saints, even before the world began.

It is quite limiting and a self-sabotage for one born of God (born from above) to live mere natural life. That was why the apostle Paul laid strong emphasis on the need for a believer to set his affection on things above, be spiritually minded, and led of the Spirit. And the key to all these is to richly fill ourselves with the Word of God and to grow in fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Then we will think and live in consonance with the eternal principles as found in the word.

And our lives will be under the domain of the Word of God and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. There is more to gain by growing in the Spirit.

FOCUS

lt is quite limiting and a self-sabotage for one born of God to live mere natural life. Man is born of spirit of God and if you can maintain growing and working in spirit you will be the son of God.PRAYER

Oh! Lord, help me to live beyond the natural life. But to live in the Spirit no matter the condition or circumstances around me. In Jesus name. Amen.
